The G2 Crowd team is made up of passionate entrepreneurs, designers, marketers, and engineers with substantial experience building successful online businesses and working for some of the world's leading companies. The co-founders have successfully built and sold a business together before enabling them to to build G2 Crowd without outside investors. The team is committed to building the best site for business software reviews and to having fun while doing it.
Godard previously founded BigMachines, a leading software as a service (SaaS) provider which he grew profitably from scratch to $50 million in revenue while building a global team of 250. BigMachines was sold to Vista and JMI Equity at a valuation of well over $100 million. After this successful exit, Godard stepped down as CEO in 2011 and took time off to pursue two goals: playing a scratch round of golf and qualifying for the Boston Marathon. As of April 2013, he's accomplished both. Born in Germany, but raised and educated in the US at MIT and Stanford, Godard is an odd combination of a laid back German and determined, precise American engineer. While his coding skills are rusty, he once wrote a simulation program at MIT that ran on a Cray.
Matt is a seasoned high tech executive that has worked in leadership roles for global leaders GE, CAT, and EMC, as well as software start-ups such as OctetString (sold to Oracle). Most recently Matt led alliances and sales at BigMachines and grew revenue from $2 to $50 million making BigMachines one of Inc. 5000's Fastest Growing companies for five years in a row. When not spending time with his new bride, he can be found glued to his iPad managing his stock portfolio. Matt was born in Poland, raised in Germany, and studied in the US. He is a techie deep down as he started programming and using online bulletin boards as a teen back in the 1980s.
Tim has spent over 15 years developing and delivering software in a variety of roles including professional services and product management. Prior to G2 Labs, Tim was responsible for Product Management at BigMachines and led efforts to deliver the top-rated quoting tool on Salesforce.com's AppExchange for three years in a row. Tim loves making life better by solving problems using software technology. Tim is passionate about working an entrepreneurial environment, where each day is unique and learning is constant. Tim grew up in rural Iowa on his family farm, so building software was a natural transition. When not at work, he helps coach his kids wrestling team and serves at his local church. Tim is a man of mystery and power, whose power is exceeded only by his mystery.
Mark started in desktop publishing as a young lad and has had a passion for design ever since. He has been working in multimedia design since 1994. Mark has a passion for user experience and loves to use his design training to delight software users. He has a surprisingly wide vocabulary, but prefers to communicate through simple "Markisms" including: "Fact", "Are you winning" and "true story". When not spending time with his family, he enjoys long walks, awkward dancing to Huey Lewis (and the news), improving his Usability skills, as well as scaling the always dangerous sar-chasm.
Mike is a hardcore VIM power-user, whose weapons of choice include closure, lazy instantiation, and promises. He came to G2Crowd from TapJoy, where he helped to launch a mobile web product to an audience of more than 3 million users. Mike also spent four years on the BigMachines team, harnessing the latest web standards to design, build, and launch innovative web applications. Valedictorian of his class at Menlo College, Mike was also a captain on the wrestling team and Academic All American. In his free time he inhabits coffee shops, works out, and finds excuses to travel.
Molly turned a background in writing and editing into the foundation for a career in tech-focused marketing/communications. After earning a journalism degree and completing several newspaper internships, Molly pivoted and joined OneCommunity, a nonprofit focused on expanding high-speed broadband access and adoption in Northeast Ohio. Molly also spent time in the editorial department at Groupon before coming to G2 Crowd. Molly loves living in Chicago, but is a proud native of Cleveland. When she’s not watching the Browns, Indians, or Cavs lose, she enjoys brunch, bar trivia, and training for marathons.
Director of Community Management
Brad studied finance at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and is currently pursuing his MBA at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. He began his career in structured finance and worked as a Wealth Management Trust Manager for U.S. Bank. After realizing that startups were his calling, he most recently held the role of VP - Business Development for Toodalu, a mobile loyalty application development company. When Brad is not working or in school, you can find him on the golf course or managing his fantasy leagues. Brad is originally from Detroit and thinks Michigan and Wisconsin are the two greatest places on earth - just ask him.
User Acquisition Manager
Eric is a full stack marketer with a background in consulting, strategy and marketing. He earned his MBA from Columbia Business School in 2013 and is the former marketing manager at BestVendor. He is Google AdWords certified and a teacher at General Assembly and 1871. Eric is originally from Dix Hills, NY, but is now a native Chicagoan. When he’s not at G2 Crowd, he’s hanging out with his wife, drinking bourbon he’s never drank before, and working on his Amazing Race application.
Ben studied public policy at the University of Michigan and began his career at Navigant Consulting. He found his passion in startups and comes to G2 Crowd after starting The Jobtimist, a personalized job search website. Ben is originally from New Jersey and much to the dismay of the G2 Crowd team, does not have a strong Jersey accent. When not at the office, you can find Ben outside on the tennis courts, skiing, or planning his next travels.
