ExactTarget, MailChimp, Responsys Named Leaders on the Grid™ Based on Peer Reviews
CHICAGO, Nov. 12, 2013 – G2 Crowd, the trusted source for enterprise software reviews, today released the Grid™ for Email Marketing, which ranks 9 products based on more than 300 user reviews.
In the first-ever Grid™ for Email Marketing, ExactTarget, MailChimp, and Responsys earned Leader status thanks to their high scale and satisfaction scores. ExactTarget achieved a satisfaction score of 97 and a scale score of 86, both highest among the 9 products included on the Grid™. ExactTarget, which was acquired by salesforce.com in July, also received the highest number of reviews with 102. The Leaders serve different customer segments, as ExactTarget and Responsys are more focused on serving larger enterprises with more complex requirements, whereas MailChimp is more focused on serving the SMB segment or simpler use cases at larger companies.
Constant Contact, iContact, and Vertical Response were named Contenders based on having significant scale, but not achieving the same high levels of customer satisfaction as the leaders. Bronto, dotMailer, and ExpressPigeon earned High Performer status by achieving high customer satisfaction without having the market share and global scale of the Leaders.
This Grid™ charts only includes best of breed email marketing software. This Grid™ does not include broader marketing automation suites with strong email marketing capabilities such as HubSpot, Marketo, Eloqua, Pardot, and Act-On. These products are included in a separate Grid™ for Marketing Automation. Based on their requirements and budgets, marketers can decide whether a standalone email marketing product or a broader marketing suite is a better fit for their requirements.
Satisfaction rankings are generated from user reviews consisting of up to 44 questions, and scale is calculated from vendor size, market share, and social impact. Based on a combination of these scores, each software solution is categorized as a Leader, High Performer, Contender, or Niche.
Across the board, email marketing customers reported a high ROI for investments in email marketing. Email marketing reviewers reported earning a rapid financial payback period within 6 months of implementation and on average were able to go live within 1 to 3 months.
